The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site, with production projected of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life, the underground mine targets high quality coal, with the majority being metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

To support our ongoing growth, we currently have an opportunity for a Mobile and Surface Plant Mechanical Coordinator to join our Team. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the provision and maintenance of a safe, compliant, and efficient fleet of mobile plant, attachments, ancillary equipment, and surface infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in supporting operational performance by aligning equipment reliability and maintenance practices with the mine’s engineering standards and business objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and continuously improve of the maintenance strategies for the responsible asset group with best practice methodology to meet the safety and operational objectives of the business.
  • Oversee and execute the introduction to site of all underground diesel plant, attachments and associated ancillary equipment in line with sites engineering standards.
  • Scope, plan and manage the execution of equipment overhauls to meet relevant legislative requirements in line with the business’ objectives for cost, schedule, equipment safety and performance.
  • Ensure all plant in the responsible asset group is provided and maintained in compliance with relevant Australian Standards, industry guidelines and legislative requirements.
  • Effectively manage the planning, scheduling and execution of maintenance activities and maintain accurate equipment history records through the mines CMMS and asset record database.
  • Monitor equipment performance and reliability through collection of and analysis of key plant performance data including availability, down time, maintenance inputs, condition monitoring results and performance testing.
  • Develop and execute improvement strategies for identified equipment performance issues in a timely manner to maximize equipment performance and reliability.

 

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Underground Coal Mining.
  • Mechanical Trade Qualification and/or Mechanical Engineering Qualification.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and industry guidelines
  • Sound knowledge of underground mining equipment and machinery.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • AS3584 Maintenance Qualification (ExDES) would be advantageous as would knowledge of PULSE Maintenance System (CMMS).

 

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Order 43 medical, including drug and alcohol.
