The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site, with planned production of up to 8 million tonnes of per annum. With approvals in place out to 2046, the mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Maxwell is now seeking an energetic and skilled Longwall Electrical Engineer to be based at the Maxwell site, 10 minutes from the township of Muswellbrook. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this is a key role in our site-based engineering team. 

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Key leadership role in the procurement of the longwall.
  • Leading role in site operational readiness for longwall operations.
  • Manage the electrical safety and compliance requirements of the longwall.
  • Technical lead (electrical) for the longwall equipment and automation.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability through continuous improvement.
  • Manage and coordinate the electrical resources in the longwall to achieve production performance, process and maintenance targets.
  • Development and implementation of maintenance strategies.
  • Budget development and cost control.
  • Support the Longwall Superintendent to ensure business targets are achieved.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Electrical engineering qualification (or currently in progress accompanied by an electrical trade certificate)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in underground coal mines
  • Detailed knowledge of longwall technical and operational practices
  • Strong technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
