The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site, with production projected of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life, the underground mine targets high quality coal, with the majority being metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a CHPP Superintendent to join our team and support our continued growth. Reporting directly to the Infrastructure Manager, this role will oversee CHPP maintenance and production operations, with a strong emphasis on achieving production goals, ensuring coal quality aligns with product specifications, and maintaining safety and cost-effectiveness throughout the operation.

We are ideally looking for an individual with initiative, who is has demonstrated problem-solving skills, proven leadership experience and the ability to coach and mentor team members.

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Develop and improve working systems for safe and efficient CHPP operation Laise with other teams to plan and execute CHPP production and maintenance activities
  • Drive continuous improvement of a safe work culture in the CHPP
  • Assist with the completion of high value project in the CHPP area support production increases as the site grows
  • Lead operations in the CHPP to develop and maintain a positive working culture.
  • Conduct workplace inspections of CHPP area consistent with the Mine Inspection Plan
  • Lead electrical and mechanical supervisors to plan maintenance, ensure compliance and develop systems
  • Budget, review and control costs for all CHPP maintenance and production activities
  • Support adherence to site HS&E requirements
  • Attendance and verbal reports at regular meetings

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role, the applicant will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications extractive metallurgy, mechanical or electrical related discipline
  • Maintenance and coal experience
  • Working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Act and regulations
  • Contractor management skills
  • Proficiency in the application of Microsoft Excel and Word software
  • Sound report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and strong communication skills.
  • Excellence time management and prioritisation skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
