The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site, with planned production of up to 8 million tonnes of per annum. With approvals in place out to 2046, the mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Maxwell Underground Mine are currently seeking an experienced Site Accountant to join our Team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the primary functions of the Site Accountant is to support the commercial team with:
- Developing and processing the monthly staff and fortnightly payroll for 200+ new employees adhering to relevant legislative requirements associated with Long Service Leave, Workers Compensation, Payroll Tax and record management
- Developing procedures and systems for payroll
- Month end reporting including assisting key cost responsibilities to analyse and control their costs.
Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Interacting with employees to address payroll-related inquiries.
- Collaborating with HR, finance, and other departments to resolve payroll & accounting issues.
- Conducting regular audits to identify and correct discrepancies.
- Collecting and verifying timekeeping information.
- Collating weekly, and monthly, reports for the Management Team to provide insights and summaries related to payroll data.
- Assist the Commercial Team with the general mine accounting function.
- Participate in the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes.
ABOUT YOU:
To be successful, you will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Prior experience with Payroll and Mine accounting
- Sound working knowledge of accounting practices and legislative requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Payroll & Accounting Systems
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional organisation and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail
- A working knowledge of Pulse Mining Systems, and/or Payroll experience within the Coal industry, would be advantageous.
- Degree in an appropriate discipline
- CPA or CA or in the process of attaining the qualification will be looked upon favourably
