Positions are now available to join the growing operations team as we develop a Greenfield mine in the vibrant Hunter Valley.
The Maxwell Underground Project, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced construction of an operation that will produce up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life, the underground mine targets high quality coal, with the majority being metallurgical coal.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Malabar is now seeking an energetic and skilled Ventilation Officer. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this is a key role in our site based technical team.
The role is based at the Maxwell site, 10 minutes from the township of Muswellbrook.
Specific responsibilities include:
- All Statutory and Legislative requirements that fall under the Ventilation Officers role as per related legislation, regulation and guidelines.
- Manage and organise the short-, medium- and long-term ventilation requirements of the mine.
- Prepare monthly ventilation reports.
- Undertake ventilation changes as required.
- Management of the tube bundle gas monitoring system.
- Management of the inertisation system.
- Prepare ventilation budgets.
- Life of Mine planning, scheduling and sequencing.
- Key infrastructure design and planning, e.g., Mine Access Drifts, Ventilation Shaft and Fans, gas management infrastructure.
- Supporting the development of Operational plans including principal hazard management plans, control plans, procedures, and associated documentation.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities to the execution of the mine plan.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years practical experience working in an underground coal mine operation.
- Statutory Ventilation Officer Qualification
- Strong technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of VentSIM, Safegas, AutoCAD, Excel.
- Formal qualifications as a NSW Deputy and/or Undermanager, as a Workplace Trainer and Assessor or in Contractor Management would be advantageous.
