Positions are now available to join the growing operations team as we develop a Greenfield mine in the vibrant Hunter Valley.

The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced operations with production planned of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life, the underground mine targets high quality coal, with the majority being metallurgical coal.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Malabar is now seeking a motivated and capable Control Room Operator. This key role will provide on-shift support to Mining Operations in both the Woodlands Hill longwall operation and Whynot Bord and Pillar operation. This role will be based at the Maxwell site, 10 minutes from the township of Muswellbrook. 

If successful, you will be accountable for operations at the Maxwell Underground Mine Control Room providing a vital communication link for Underground Workers and Mine Management. The position will report to the Production Manager.

Indicative tasks, and responsibilities, may include:

    • Monitoring the underground environment through the Mine SCADA system to provide timely response to stoppages and alarms.
    • Providing First Aid response and assisting with the coordination of emergencies and other incidents.
    • Monitoring the movement of personnel and equipment throughout the mine.
    • Communicating essential information to Underground Workers and Mine Management. 

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 5 years experience in underground mining 
    • Current Senior First Aid qualifications.
    • Demonstrated time management skills and ability to prioritise actions.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and capacity to remain calm and focused during periods of heightened activity.
    • Previous experience in a Control Room environment is desirable.
